Cagayan de oro Signs MOA with Commission on Filipinos Overseas for its E-Governance Project

Philippine's most competitive city, Cagayan de Oro (CDO) signed a memorandum of agreement with the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) to formally pledge its full support, cooperation and collaboration with CFO's e-governance project called BaLinkBayan:"Overseas Filipinos' one-stop online portal for diaspora engagement."

The MOA signing between CFO Chairperson, Sec. Imelda M. Nicolas and CDO Mayor Oscar S. Moreno was held Wednesday, 18 June 2014 at the Intercontinental Hotel in Makati.

Cagayan de Oro City's efforts to streamline its business processes and cut red tape earned it the distinction of being named as an "emerging city of tomorrow" during the World Urban Forum in Columbia hosted by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN Habitat).

Under the agreement, CDO shall participate in the CFO's BaLinkBayan project by exchange of information in setting up systems for business registration, real property tax assessment and payments. Meanwhile, CFO will feature CDO's online systems in the BaLinkBayan website.

The partnership between the Commission on Filipinos Overseas and Cagayan de Oro City helps in making the Philippines an ideal place for business and investment especially for overseas Filipinos.
